Shrink Rap Radio Podcast

Shrink Rap Radio Psychology Interviews: Exploring brain, body, mind, spirit, intuition, leadership, research, psychotherapy and more!

I found the podcast last year, while browsing for good podcasts on my favourite app – Player FM. I have listened to quie a few of the shows and I definitely recommend it to people interested in everything related to Psychology and Therapy.

Shrink Rap Radio with Dr Dave is a psychology and therapy book review – interview podcast. Dr Dave also known as David Van Nuys, Ph.D. is a professor of Psychology. He has run a couple of other podcasts similar to Shrink Rap Radio, so if you are interested, check them out too.

The show is in the form of interviews; most often with the writer of a book on the topics of Mental Health, Psychology, Psychotherapy and Wellbeing. Dr Dave gives a good overview of the book, then discusses the topics and implications from the book with the author. One of the things he also does, and I love, is ask the interviewees how did they end up in the field, what was their route and also what drew them into the topics they research and discuss. I think this is particularly important for the young people who listen to the show, as they can learn about the diverse roots to their chosen field for professional and personal development.

The topics of the books discussed vary quite a lot, which is great, because as we know Psychology, Psychotherapy and Wellbeing are huge topics and the diversity in the podcast provides materials for all people from different schools of Psychology and Therapy and also it broadens your horison if you want to get yourself more educated in the different fields.

Another thing which I want to bring up as a major positive is that Dr. Dave tries to get his podcasts transcribed, which is great for people who prefer reading and those who have troubles with their hearing. His show would indeed help you expand your reading list of great books on Mental Health and Wellbeing. The website of Shrink Rap Radio provides more information for each show than the podcast player I use, so if you are not sure, I’d say check out the website first.

Enjoy listening, and share your thoughts with me in the comments below!
Also if you know of other great podcasts, I should check out, give me a shout! 😉
