Wow! What a read!
Allan is someone who hates politics and don’t want to know a thing about them, yet he often finds himself in the middle of a political whirlpool and since he is experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to explosives, it seems that everyone wants to make the best use of his skills for their political endeavours.
Allan is unbelievably laid back and going with the flow person…he is easily drawn into adventures of all kinds… See, he says ‘Yes’ to all kinds of things. He’s literary the Yes Man we know from the hilarious film with Jim Carrey… And as it happens, being a Yes Man can have unpredictable consequences. I need to point out that Allan is also incredibly honest- all of the time, which obviously gets him in troubles quite a lot. So honesty is not the best policy…after all.
Anyways I truly loved how the story of Allan’s life was shifting between his youth and his adventures at the present when he is 100 years old. It is absolutely unpredictable and well written story! As I was reading the book at some point I realized that I don’t even think of what might be coming next… So I challenged myself about it. I was like ‘Hey am I being passive and not even trying to think of what’s going on in the book and what may happen next or what?’ then tried to think of the story and figure out what may happen next….and failed miserably.
This book is going to make you smile, even laugh and want to turn the pages and never stop reading it… The writing style of the writer is good as the book is extremely easy to read and the adventures keep you motivated to go on reading. I was quite surprised of how cool the characters are, especially Allan of course, he is a star… Allan’s actions have world impact, and he is not even stopping to think for a second what the implications are, should he decide to do this or that… I loved how easy going the other characters were, I wonder whether Swedes are like this in general- or is it all fiction hah?
Anyways, if you are looking for a book that can take your mind away and can make you smile and be so immersed in the action as to forget to speculate of what’s coming next, then that’s the read for you.
In short – it’s easy to read, fun, adventurous and definitely not main stream, it deserved a 5 out of 5 rating on my GoodReads account.
P.S. I am definitely buying this book for my granddad.
